Velbon N740 Overview
The Geo N740 Tripod from Velbon is a solid carbon fiber support that can hold most cameras and lenses under 26.46 lb. Lightweight at 5.09 lb, this tripod can reach heights up to 68.1″ and shrink as low as 5.5″ — providing a wide range of creative possibilities.
The 4-section telescoping legs collapse into themselves and can be secured with twist locks. This brings the tripod’s folded length to a convenient size of 22″ tall.
A removable, two-part center column has a hook at the bottom that can be used for additional stability when operating at an extreme height with heavy gear or in adverse conditions.

The center column of the GEO N740 can be removed to achieve the tripod’s minimum height of 5.5″. The column also has a hook attached, which can provide additional stability to the tripod.
Construction
The carbon fiber legs of the Geo-series tripods have been strengthened by the addition of a small quantity of basalt, offering greater resistance and rigidity for bending and crushing forces. Additionally, the tripod components and furniture are constructed of magnesium alloy.
